Model Verb

The combination of adverb with verb and preposition is called a Phrasal Verb.

 वर्ब और प्रीप्रोजिशन, वर्ब और एडवर्ब, वर्ब के साथ एडवर्ब और प्रीप्रोजिशन के कॉम्बिनेशन को Phrasal वर्ब कहते हैं. Phrasal वर्ब का अर्थ उसकी ओरिजनल वर्ब के अर्थ से काफी अलग होता है.

For Example: 

1.He was brought before the Board to account for his behaviour.

Here "Account" means खाता and "for" means के लिये but together in the sentence it means कारण बताना और जवाब देना, यहाँ Account for एक phrasal verb है।

कुछ उदाहरण अच्छे से समझने के लिए: 

1.Act on
The police acted on the call they received
पुलिस ने कॉल के बाद कार्यवाही शुरू की।

2.Ask after
My Sister is always asking after you.
मेरी बहन हमेशा आपके बारे में पूछती रहती है.
